It’s my Birthday Week!! 37: The Beauty of Anticipation and Growth

By K of KO Unscripted

There’s something about birthdays in your 30s that just hit differently. They aren’t about cake, balloons, or late-night parties anymore (though, let’s be real, cake will always have a place in our hearts). Instead, they become these markers—checkpoints where you stop and look back at how far you’ve come, and where you want to go.

I turn 37 in just a few days, and the anticipation is real. Not because I’m dreading another candle on the cake, but because each year I grow a little deeper into myself.

Motherhood has changed me. Marriage has stretched me. Friendships have anchored me. And honestly, the woman I am today is not the same woman I was at 27—or even 33. And that’s the beauty of it.

Growth doesn’t always look glamorous. Sometimes it’s messy, sometimes it’s lonely, and sometimes it’s downright exhausting. But when you pause to look back, you realize—wow—I’m stronger, wiser, and more unapologetically myself than I’ve ever been.

And here’s the thing: anticipation doesn’t have to mean fear of what’s ahead. Anticipation can mean excitement. It can mean leaning into the unknown and saying, “Okay life, I see you. Let’s do this.”

So here’s to 37. To the anticipation of what’s next. To the growth that comes with every hard season, every belly laugh, every late-night tear, every milestone, and every tiny, ordinary moment in between.

If you’re reading this and you’re somewhere in your own journey of growth—whether you’re 27, 37, or 57—take a moment to see how far you’ve come. Anticipate the next chapter not with fear, but with fire. Because the best version of you is still unfolding.
