How We Got Here: When God Makes the Path Clear

Sometimes you don’t realize God has been working all along… until you finally stop and look back.
And suddenly, everything makes sense.
Every conversation. Every little nudge. Every moment that made you pause and think, “Wait… is there another way?”
That’s exactly how this journey into homeschooling has felt for us.
Because if we’re being honest… this wasn’t something we always planned.
In fact, we questioned it. We wrestled with it. We even tried to talk ourselves out of it more than once.
We asked God very clearly:
If this isn’t the path for our families… put a roadblock in front of us.
A big one.
Close the doors. Make it obvious. Stop us in our tracks.
And instead?
Everything just kept… falling into place.
Opportunities lined up. Conversations confirmed what we were already feeling. Peace replaced the hesitation we had at the beginning.
Even when we explored other options — different schools, different paths — nothing felt right.
Not because there’s anything wrong with those places.
In fact, the schools our kids are in now? They are loved. They are cared for. They are surrounded by incredible teachers and staff.
And we want to be very clear about that.
This decision has nothing to do with one specific school.
It has everything to do with the system as a whole.
Because the more we paid attention… the more we couldn’t ignore what we were seeing.
Young kids sitting under fluorescent lights for most of the day.
Sitting for long stretches of time.
Not enough movement.
Not enough fresh air.
Not enough time to just be kids.
Stacks of papers coming home.
Pressure building earlier and earlier.
And the constant focus on testing.
And not just testing to understand how our kids are doing…
But testing tied to scores.
To performance.
To things that don’t always reflect the heart of a child or the way they were uniquely created to learn.
It started to feel like the system was preparing kids for something very specific…
A path that doesn’t look the same for every child.
A path that, in many ways, begins to shape them into what the world expects… instead of giving them space to discover who they are.
And that didn’t sit right with us.
Because our kids are still little.
They’re curious.
They’re imaginative.
They’re full of life and energy and questions.
And we started to feel this pull — this quiet but persistent nudge — that maybe there was another way to nurture that.
A way that allowed more movement.
More creativity.
More real-life learning.
More time outside.
More time together.
And the more we leaned into that feeling… the more peace we felt.
Not confusion.
Not chaos.
Peace.
The kind of peace that only comes when you know you’re being guided somewhere — even if it feels a little unknown.
And that’s when we knew.
This wasn’t something we were forcing.
This was something God had been gently placing in front of us all along.
Every step.
Every thought.
Every conversation.
All leading us here.
To a new season. A new way of learning. A new way of living.
And while we don’t have every detail figured out (because let’s be real… when do we ever? 😅)
We do have confidence in this:
When God makes a path clear, you don’t have to force it.
You just have to trust it.
And that’s exactly what we’re doing.
